The four principal merchandising requirement areas are: apparent size, attention drawing power, impression of quality, and brand-name readability. Attention drawing power refers to the aesthetics and obtrusiveness of the package design. Depending on the product and the goals of the marketers, the package may be made to appear attractive, exciting, pure, soft, sexy, scary, intriguing, or to evoke some other emotion.
